    Wolf Spider eating Boxelder bug

    Hi Everybody,

So today I found a Wolf Spider that decided she liked my living room window. I promptly captured her in a Pyrex glass container. I'm a boy at heart and decided that I would feed some Boxelder bugs to her while I photographed it with my Nikon and macro stuff. Enjoy!

Wolf Spider attacked from the side and wrapped a few misc strands of web around the bottom of the glass and the prey. You can clearly make out the fangs in this picture and the venom drop on the back of the bug.

The Wolf Spider flipped the Boxelder bug over and bit it twice more. This time the yellow venom is quite obvious.

Wolf Spider then started to suck up her dinner. Godless, heathen spider didn't say grace once.

Thanks! I found it extremely interesting to see the fangs for the first time and yellow venom.

Great piece of work. The bug was outclassed no contest.

Very interesting story, sorry for the bug though. The stance of the bug in the first image is like that of a bull ready to charge at its enemy

Yeah, I wish I could have found a Black Widow but nothing other than Wolf and garden spiders up here FORTUNATELY lol.

It was really cool seeing the Wolf Spider grab the Boxelder bug with all 8 legs and then thrust downward with her fangs. Creepy but cool nonetheless.
