    Moonlight shadows

Currently Northumberland, our trip was planned around a visit to the night sky area and Kielder Observatory. I did some reading up on night-time and astro photography before we set out and kept the fingers crossed the skies would be clear.

On Saturday night, we watched the moon rise and then provide us with shadows. Here are two of the many photos I took - still loads more to sift through and process.

C&C welcome, expecially as we are still in the dark sky area and I am hoping for more evenings of fun and clear skies

That are nice pictures! I don't know what to add.

But then you wouldn't have that "look through".

Well worth looking at with the lightbox setting where the fine detail becomes more apparent.

Two really good shots, the first one in particular. The balance of light between the shadows and the highlights is spot on and not easy to achieve. I know because I have failed (repeatedly .... ).

    Re: Moonlight shadows

The first one is especially nice for me. I like the roles of the man and his shadow, the relationship between the parking area and the man, and the relationship between the moon and the rest of the scene. All of that makes the image seem more dynamic, as opposed to the composition in the other image that seems a bit too static.

    Consider converting to monochrome.

    Re: Moonlight shadows

Thank you all for your kind and encouraging words. It was a magical evening and it seems that has been conveyed in the images, so I am pleased. Credit too to my husband who wandered into the frame and then stood still/moved etc. to my command.

Mike i will try the B&W, I like the blue and hints of green but worth a second look.

With your help, and especially Tony who PM'd me, a couple of edits. But sorry Nandakumar, I can't move the legs on this one.

I am not late to this party...I am not late to this party...I can still comment...

OK...I like #2 -- that was such a good coincidence with your husband walking into the scene. What an obedient husband you have!!! Mine would have looked back at me and ruin my shot.
