    Ever widening gap

Taken earlier this summer here in Toronto.
I was walking on Yonge Street here in downtown Toronto when I noticed across the street a man on a motorized scooter panhandling in front of an old, extremely beautiful building that had likely been a financial institution in another life.
I was struck by the contrast between the enormous symbol of wealth and power, and the tiny man who needed to beg to make ends meet.
    And grabbed this shot.
Converted to black and white in photoshop.
    motorized Nikon FG
Nikkor 24 f2 AIS manual focus
    Fuji 100 ISO colour slide
    5.6 @ 1/125th

Nicely seen, captured, and processed. Would've been interesting to see if the guys intereracted with him or not.

    Thanks John.
In answer to your question, you can see that the two passers-by had already assumed the "thousand-yard stare" posture, and they walked by the subject without even giving him a glance.

An interesting shot to be sure. Though I think you're off on the title. Something more like Things Never Really Change.

I like it very much, the image and the title.

Very nice conversion and juxtaposition. Consider adding some sharpening at least at this size; the original might be just fine.

    Robert,

What focal length for this shot, very clean lines and no distortion?

    Mike,
    Thank you for commenting.
The shot was sharpened, and at the 1920 pixels on vertical side at which it was saved, even when I size it up, it is sharp.

    John,
You must have missed the specs in my little story. This was taken with a Nikkor 24 f2 AIS at about 5.6.
And there was distortion in the original.
The shot was taken from across the street, and of necessity I had to tilt the camera up to get the top of the building into frame.
The slide had quite a bit of keystoning, which I tamed as much as I could in photoshop after scanning. My post-processing skills being what they are, what you see is the best I could do. But nevertheless, I was satisfied with the shot as it tells the story I wanted to tell.
