Peter Lougheed Park, Alberta
I was looking through the last years images and discovered a great chunk of images I never got around to processing. I have this mental glitch; I process some marginal images to see if they should be saved, then never get around to processing the better ones. My files are littered with large blocks of images I forgot about. Makes for a nice surprise when doing a review, but I shake my head wondering what else is buried in there.
Peter Lougheed Park is one of several Parks in Alberta that are not as famous as the National Parks (Banff, Jasper, Yoho and Waterton) but still very spectacular. This one is south of Banff, only accessible by road from late spring until late fall. However it is used all year round for backcountry recreation and is very popular with the locals.
This was taken in June of this year. I intend to go back and shoot here one spring. The sunlight angle was not quite right for this view, the sun was too far south by the time I got to this spot.

Don't you love finding lost gems, I do the same but only when I get new editing software; I'll redo depending on the effects or corrections I can achieve.
The shadows from the clouds help give this image depth, the clouds are featureless yet shapely so you can probably crop some of those. I would try to emphasize the peaks a bit more. I also think the blues are a bit too warm, they should help convey distance and atmosphere but the blues of the peaks are a bit overwhelming and compete with the foreground and the valley below. Nicely composed.
