American Kestrel Landing on a Windy Perch

Wind was about 12 knots so it made for an interesting landing attempt. Too funny.

Wind must have helped you with the capture somewhat; the gusts can also make it difficult to handhold. Nicely captured.

Landing and embarrassment saved. Beautiful bird and images. Definitely ones for the album.

Thanks! I braced the camera up against a tree for additional support. That really helped.

Well okay, if you insist and I'll toss in another one in flight as well. How's that for closure?

For those of you unfamiliar with the American Kestrel, it is a member of the Falcon family and is about the size of a Robin, with the speed of a Kingfisher and the agility of a Barn Swallow. It generally feeds on grasshoppers, dragonflies or other insects but will eat just about anything it can catch.
