    Puppy Pile

Rita's puppies at one day old...

    Puppy Pile

I shot this image using this little el-cheapo diffuser http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Cl...wAAOSw3xJXnjBg

I experiment with different types of inexpensive diffusers for flash units. I like this diffuser because it has a reflective surface at the rear and pumps out quite a bit of light forward. Yet, the light is pretty soft. I shot the pups from just a few feet distant ISO: 320, 1/60 second @ f/3.2, using 50mm on a crop sensor camera and 17-55mm f/2.8 IS lens with a Canon 420EX flash...

At less than two U.S. Dollars with shipping, you can't beat the price of this little diffuser that you can carry in your shirt pocket.

    Hi Richard,
Cheaper, I always buy at aliexpress.com, I found the equivalent at US$1.1, free shipping.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

    Re: Puppy Pile

Thanks for your comments. Rita is taking very good care of these puppies. Rita is about 11 pounds so four puppies are not overwhelming for her. Her care allowed my wife and me to go to the Santa Paws adoption event today where we got six dogs adopted with a firm commitment to adopt a seventh dog tomorrow. All in all, this has been a very successful day...

Nice shot. Little beauties. From your title I was half expecting to see a steaming pile of doggy-offerings. Fortunately not!

puppies are three days old now. They are growing and are able to move around quite a bit. Rita is keeping them squeeky clean. She is a great mom!
