    Sunset

Sun was setting and quite beautiful. Decided at last moment to try to capture. Didn't do a lot of post-process, other than lightening up shadows to avoid a big black foreground, and a minor crop with a bit of sharpening.
Still don't really like it all that much. The foreground still seems too dark and soft (and not super interesting or necessary) and I see too much noise. The colors of the sky were pretty amazing though.

    Sunset

Hope I can get out and do some other things besides landscape soon.
    Thanks for viewing

The sky makes up for any shortcomings you have with the foreground, its lovely.
I would clone out the bare tree/pole on the RH side bottom

An uncommon sky-colour, but pleasing; yes; that post is a bit disturbing

    LOL
Thank you. And, believe it or not, our skies are often pink in the winter here. It's quite unusual, but we have some pretty amazing sunsets. They are a common photography target, and I don't do too many of them but sometimes...

    Hi there neighbour!

We share a beautiful part of NW. While I may be across the boarder in Victoria we share a similar environment! I love your image and the range of shadows in the middle distance.

I have never taken the ferry across to Anacortes but I hope to do so before I return to live in NZ next year. I may send you a note to get your advice on what and where to photograph over your way...

    cheers Trev

    Lovely image.

I used NIK Viveza shadow, structure and contrast sliders after I selected the bottom portions of the image with control points.

However, I don't know if I like it any better or not!

I like what you have done. Granted, it's a tough image to work with given the nature of the foreground. But thanks!!

I have learned so much about sky colours on our last trip from Reno to Missouri just be observing for a while and am very much still amazed at the hour leading to the nightsky and the sunrises too. They are called the "golden hour" for a reason and realized they are really beautiful for the subtleness of the scene. I took one shot, just one during the whole trip...but not as pretty as this one you shared with us here. I have yet to see this kind of beauty. One thing to remember for me to shoot when I get to a scene like this. 'Wish I was there...
