    Hi Judith,

Were you shooting on a tripod? Also which lens were you using? Congrats on finishing your Project 52, hopefully it has been helpful.

Thanks, John. No, no tripod. Lens was a zoom at 200 mm. I tend to shoot shutter priority to allow the best chance for a hand-held image to be sharp. That can compromise DOF. Most of what I have been shooting are images from our twice yearly major trips, sometimes from a moving car or plane, as often while hiking. The travel/hiking is the focus, the experiencing at the moment, and the photos are incidental. This is one reason I have been wanting to improve my post processing skills. These times are really for my husband of 49 years and I to have shared experiences. If I were to try to carry gear and really emphasize the photography, I would lose that time.

For 2017 I plan to allow myself one day a month to go solo and focus on the photography as I used to do years ago. Then tripod and careful consideration of all aspects of image capture will be back on my plate!

    Happy new year to all!

A great subject to finish your project Judith I like the processing but İf the image was mine I wouldn't crop it so much as your original composition looks very nice . I would crop only from the RHS just a little bit to eliminate the dark hole-like things, that's all.

[QUOTE=GBO25;649922]Your old fishing boat certainly looks a little brighter with an enhanced morning glow.

Below I've suggested a couple of other edits you might like to try to bring it up even more...[QUOTE]

Graham--I really appreciate your detailed description of a workflow with which I was quite unfamiliar. It resulted in significant improvement to my image. Sorry it took so long for me to find space (holidays, etc.) to really try it. I also appreciate the use of the luminence slider to reduce grain in scanned photos. I have really put that one to work as I prepare a book for my daughter on her 40th birthday later this year! Thank you again!
