    If I needed another flash...

    Actually, I don't because I have five Canon Speedlites, including the 600EX RT. However, if I were just starting my flash gear, I would seriously consider this unit sold by Adorama...

    The unit reminds me of my old Sunpak 120J except that it has TTL, radio triggering and high speed flash.

    I really liked the 120J because of the bare bulb capability. Bare bulb is great for indoor bounce work and is also super for using with a softbox...

    Looks like another 'badge engineered' incarnation of the Godox Witstro AD-360 which I believe Manfred has (and I'd like)

    Whoever builds them seems to issue a new range every time the US importer changes, sure they were also available under another name last year.

    Same goes for the R2 flash trigger system, which looks to be same as the X1 system I use with the Godox speedlights.

    They are quite good.

    Looking at it I would have to say that you are right. It's a lot more portable than my Einstein 640 units and battery pack I sometimes haul around, and has about 1 stop less output. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to get a small light stand and softbox into my luggage to take along on an upcoming photo trip (I think I might need a bigger suitcase ).

    Yup. Adorama's picked up the Godox X1 system and have rebranded them all as Flashpoint gear.

    X1 triggers = Flashpoint R2 triggers (Canon, Nikon, and Sony flavors. Adorama had dummy entries for four-thirds, Pentax, and Fuji X, but those have disappeared). [The Flashpoint R1 triggers are the older FT- Godox triggers for the first gen. of the Wistro 180/360].

    Wistro AD 600 => Flashpoint XPLOR 600 HSS
    Wistro AD 600 (TTL) => Flashpoint XPLOR 600 HSS TTL
    Wistro AD 360 => Flashpoint Streaklight 360
    Wistro AD 360II => Flashpoint Streaklight 360 TTL
    Ving 860II => Flashpoint Zoom Li-On R2 TTL (Canon, Nikon, Sony flavors)
    Ving 850II => Flashpoint Zoom Li-On Manual R2
    TT685 => Flashpoint Zoom TTL R2 Flash with Integrated R2 Radio Transceiver
    TT600 => Flashpoint Zoom R2 Manual Flash with Integrated R2 Radio Transceiver

    Because of the integrated system approach, I tend to point folks towards the TT600 and an X1 transmitter vs. a YN-660 and a YN-560-TX. Only costs about $10 more, you get HSS (yes, even with the manual-only flashes), the option to add manual or TTL speedlights with AAs or battery packs, bare bulb flashes, and studio strobes. All with remote power control and HSS. Yongnuo, not so much.

    The AD600 is the one that's wowing most of the boards right now. Battery-powered studio strobe (600Ws), ability to separate into a pack'n'head with an accessory (great for boom arms), Bowens mount version, AC adapter capability, and built-in X1 receiver for remote power control and HSS. Also comes in a TTL version. It's kinda slick. Oh, and you can use the same light with the three flavors of transmitter (Canon, Nikon, Sony) simultaneously, and it'll autoswitch to accommodate. The Sony e-mount shooters are verra happy.

    Oh, and they've released another remote head to gang together two power packs and make a 1200Ws light.
