Gorgeous... Picton used to be a bit of a dump that one had to go through for the inter-island ferries. However an enlightened local body has really made an effort to spruce the place up and it's become a bit of a tourist spot in its own right.
Very nice shots with these clouds attached to the hills.
I love the mist on the mountains. Morning serenity well captured in both images. Well done.
Excellent and inviting images
Lovely scenes
Lovely images. Prefer the 1st - the symmetry doesn't quite work for me in the second
Especially interesting perspective in the first one. I wish a polarizer had been used in the second one.
Every time I see a photo of Picton I remember the pair of glasses I accidentally left there.
Thanks all for the comments.
Right on the water's edge and right on the ground in the first one Mike. I do have a polariser but have found at wide angles and early morning you can get considerable difference in colour tone across the sky. This was at 15mm with the sun directly over my right shoulder.
I guess the tragedy of leaving your glasses behind would depend on whether they were glasses half full or glasses half empty
It was probably a good choice not to use the polarizer with such a short focal length.
After I had driven just a bit away from the ferry terminal, there were some sheep in the pasture next to the road. I got out of the car and took some pictures. I put my glasses in the grass while I was doing photography, drove away in the car and an hour later remembered I hadn't retrieved the glasses. The worst part of the story is that the only photo I captured that was worthy of being kept is rated the lowest rating I use. I probably wouldn't have kept it were it not for the associated story about the lost pair of glasses.
I prefer the first image, Mike. Though I find the headland on the right a bit bold when compared with the delicacy of the yachts and their surrounds. I would consider either losing the headland on the right or muting it somehow. Your shots are more imaginative than mine of Picton. One, I still wrestle with, is of the arch and the lovely view behind. I have cloned out the handrail and it looks much better, then, peculiar for me, I still am two minds about having messed with the scene. Don't know why -- as I regularly tamper with reality?
Beautiful work both of them, I do like the second one better because of the low angle and better recognizable depth of field.
Looks idyllic. Nicely captured.
Beautiful images and capture. #1 love it.
