    The friendly statues of Napier

Napier is a captivating city on the east coast of New Zealand's north island. It was destroyed by an earthquake in 1931 and then the city centre was rebuilt in the art deco style.

It's fabulous and even the statues are friendly.

    Thanks John.

As you can see in #2 the little guy on the pole is quite high up.
As a result #3 shot was taken using live view with my 70D with its screen flipped out and twisted down and the camera held at arm's length overhead. Also had to use fill flash to get some detail in his back and wait patiently until there was no one walking through the scene.

    Graham,

Looks like a very touristy area so your patience was rewarded.

No.3 is really a creative idea and well executed. Well done.

I think it' great when a community, just for enjoyment, is prepared to sped its hard earned cash on public art for arts sake (rather than commemoration). Nice set of images. The second would be my pick.

    I prefer 2 and 3.
IMO, on the first the woman does not detach itself enough from the context.
