Waxwing taking a fly in flight

I was trying (unsuccessfully) to get a decent picture of a Waxwing in flight. I know this isn't the sharpest picture by a long way but I was surprised to see it locked on to a fly when I reviewed the pics during post....
Makes a change from the usual eating berries pics

Interesting shot, Alan. And you managed both the bird and the bug in focus. Nicely done.

I've often wondered what they eat after the berry crop is all gone. Similarly a few years back I recall seeing photos of a humming bird with a small insect in its beak.

Strangely there were still loads of berries about. It certainly surprised me

Perhaps they fancied a bit of meat to go with all the 'veg' (or fruit)

    Good capture Alan, well done.

    That shot works fine.

Yes, plenty of berries still around because it has been a mostly mild winter with lots of other things for birds to eat.

Man o man...what a beautiful shot! And here I am still wondering when I will ever be able to catch a fly with my chopsticks like Mr. Nakamura...
