A couple of unique shots of pelicans

At least different than I've captured to date.

I ran across this potential opportunity a couple of weeks ago when I didn't have a camera with me. Monday we went back to the location and I brought a camera along.

Best viewed large in the light box.

    Nikon D7200, 300mm f4E, 1.4X TC, handheld

Oh how beautiful!!! Water background on the first would had looked like a cloud background if you removed the wave on the left hand side. The reflection looks better on the first one. Did you cropped that? Slight landing on the second looks good too but I noticed the difference between the eyes of #1 and 2 -- I love the brightness of #1. Both shots are excellent. Love it.

Thanks for commenting, John and Izzie.

Izzie, they are only cropped to straighten and format. Reflections were clipped when shot.

There may very well be a color cast, particularly in the shaded portions of the bird which is a lot due to the backlighting. With both a blue sky above and reflecting off the water, there's a lot of blue light. I selectively warmed the bird to some degree but had no intention of completely eliminating the blue cast. That was the natural light, not a photographic artifact.

Second, I'm not working on a calibrated system so have no idea how well I did what I described above. A good bit of guess work involved
