Nilgiri Mountain Railway

The mountain railways of India are a UNESCO World Heritage site. Parts still operate using steam locomotives, but unfortunately it was not running, so we went on the vintage cars (2nd class) from Ooty to Coornoor, India. I took a few shots along the way.

3. Water filling mechanism for steam trains are still in place.





4. The steam locomotives are maintained at the Salem sheds in Coornoor.

Of course, I just haven't had time to work on them yet. I'm in the middle of making arrangements to go on a photo tour (that's the easy part - getting there etc is what takes the time) of the Holi festival that takes place at the beginning of March.
