I'd rather go naked than wear fur

Taken a few years ago during a protest in what had been the Garment and Furrier's District here in downtown Toronto.
While most of the Furriers in Toronto had ceased to exist, there were still a few producing real fur garments, and as part of a protest against them a small group showed up with placards and stripped down to their underwear for effect. None of the three had the strength of their convictions to actually strip naked. The photographer in the bottom left corner was the unlucky young soul from one of the major newspapers who was assigned to cover this bit of theatre on a weekend.
As I was in the area that day, I stuck around long enough top grab this shot, and schmooze with the photographer for a bit and then left for more fertile ground.

What a dilemma! I'd rather wear fur if there is nothing to wear, than be naked... ...

Anyway, good find, Robert. I am wondering about their footwears, the one on the left wearing an uneven set of socks and the one on the right is barefooted. Are they really protesting for real or they are protesting because they cannot afford the cost of fur? Another story for another day...

If I was wearing fur, I would prefer that the fur be on the inside, and the skin to the outside!

I like the picture and I feel sympathy for them.

I think that I might have tried for a reflection in the windows.

I looked at my wardrobe and the only fur item is a fur collar on a jacket. Luckily, it is faux fur so I don't have to walk around naked.

As a moral issue I would say it depends on how the fur was obtained and why it is worn. If the fur was farmed specifically for the fashion industry (and hence likely to be seen in downtown Toronto) I would certainly be against it, however if the fur is the by-product of hunting to eat, as many Inuit, Siberian aborigines and First Nations peoples do as part of their traditional hunting practices, then I support using the whole of the animal for survival clothing. Without doubt fur is one of the most efficient materials for survival clothing in the Arctic cold. Traditional hunters do not hunt to extinction, and they respect and honour the animals they predate.

Robert, I like the juxtaposition. It's rather clever and humorous. The window display to their right seems to be displaying a wardrobe but of a different kind on the mannequins. Very well done.
