Excellent series with some great detail Robin. I particularly like the isolation of #1 with just a few stars showing. I think I would edit out the wisp of cloud though.
#3 looks like a Darlek searching for Dr. Who.

Good stuff. Did you need to correct for white balance or did the Fuji cope.

I started on Auto WB but I was getting a more typical warm street light colouring so switched it to Tungsten then tweaked it further in LR.

    Thanks.

I did consider that and I even pulled back on the sky darkening a little to give even more detail then ended up back where I started.

Good set...I was more into putting your commentary on the last one to the first shot.

These are so cool. What a great place to go night shooting. I like the isolation of the first one too but must say I rather like that little wispy cloud. Looks like the Tungsten WB served you well. The last shot is my favorite. This may be a really stupid question but how is the lighthouse lit so well? Is it your PPing?

    Thanks

The lighthouse is illuminated by the LED lights (below) that I had on my camera so I could see the controls in dark. I had the idea they would be a great way of using the camera without having to wear a head torch or carry a handheld light and I have to say they worked brilliantly. I did notice though that when cranked up to their full power they were throwing light forward a fair distance so tried a few shots with them pointed at the lighthouse and frankly was amazed at how much light they were contributing. They're meant for macro work but will be a regular on my night shoots from now on.

    Re: Harbour Lights

I too like the pictures, especially #4.

... but the main reason for this post is to encourage you to reshoot your avatar image along the lines of Manfred's (GrumpyDiver), but using the lamp heads - and getting the XT-1 in shot of course!

Or, with some careful positioning, you could mimic Mickey Mouse

A good experiment indeed. If you don't mind - how long were the lighthouse exposures with the lights?
