    My turn...Cadillac Ranch...for C&C

I had not been submitting any images for a while when I saw the shots I did when we went to Reno to get hubby's parts for his buckaroo to bring home here in Missouri. Anyway, I lost interest in photography there and concentrated on my cooking instead while getting my grove back...anyway, Cadillac Ranch is not really a ranch per se...this is located in the middle of a corn field along the south side of Interstate 40, aligned East to West, models from 1948 to 1964 (1963?) It is a must-see if you are passing by Amarillo, Texas.

It was very early in the morning when this picture was taken, just after breakfast, one of our must stop and see and of course take pictures. If you will forgive me I'd try to do better in next month's outing. I have no contact lens when I shot this one above..

Nice composition considering you weren't really into the craft, consider lifting the shadows a bit.

Hi Izzie, I like the overall image but I do agree with John about lifting up the shadows. I am wondering about cropping it to a 16:9 ratio, or more of a pano crop, to eliminate some of the bright sky? Don't know if that would be more beneficial or not, just a thought.

What a wonderful bizarre idea. :-) Like your shot a lot - I like the inclusion of people checking it out.

Nice composition - the people really give a size reference. I have to agree with a crop more like a pano and opening p the shadows. I played with it in NIK Viveza and will post the results if you would like me to...

Rita--it was the sky that attracted me in this instance...the mood and drama of the scene at the time and I thought that mood will be off if I brighten the shot a bit...

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I truly appreciate it very much.

Thank you to you too John.

Thanks for commenting, Bruce and Paul. I will surely be back as soon as I can from now on. 'Will edit more from some of my outing there soon. Most of my shots then were more of airplane parts than anything so I am still culling some of them for Bill's purposes and mine. I've enrolled in some classes this Spring so expect some more good ones (or not...)

Susan, my husband Bill, spent most of our time there trying to shoo away people playing around and adding to the graffiti to the cars. It is an open area only protected by fences and the metal revolving door. The couple there I included because they formed the composition I had in mind.

Aahh yes, Ole...it is bizarre as it is weird and being there feels like you are surrounded by paint everywhere. Lucky this is not in a bad area of the city or it will feel like being surrounded by bad elements too, but nothing of that really. Breathable if I may say so myself.

Nandy! you got it! The feeling I mean -- so much drama there with the atmosphere despite the ambiance of the people visiting the place the same time we were there...the whole scene is there, like something is about to happen when the sun really come bursting out.

Richard, I had a little play with Nik's Colour Efex too but I didn't like the result so I reverted to the original as I saw it. This is one of the times that special effects just couldn't come close to the mood and the feelings as I stood there and look at the scene in front of me. I shot several angles as I always do despite my lack of contact lens at the time and I like this one better. I think the couple adjusted well to the Golden Spiral too. Thanks. Some people may like the brighter version so I do not mind if you put it out here.

Thank you very much for commenting, Terry...glad you escaped one of the 32 tornadoes that passed by your way recently. We were spared too, knockwood...Will try to take some more pictures when I am allowed to carry more than 6 lbs. Soon.

I appreciate all your comments and suggestions. Thanks all for your time.

When I looked at your pic I had to wonder why anyone would even put cars in this manner! Weird - but intriguing. And the sky was perfect for your shot! I like it as it is! Dramatic!

Interesting shot, Izzie. I like the pov you have chosen. The shape of the clouds echoes the lie of the land. The brightest part of the sky looks blown to me, so perhaps that could be toned down, and maybe lift the shadows on the cars to make them more prominent. The place looks more like a cadillac graveyard to me.

I had googled this place before we even left the house to see what we can see along the way that I can photograph along the way and as far as I can remember, this structures if I can call it that was made for the sake of "art". The owner of the land is a millionaire/philanthropist and this is the newest place it has been moved to. The place is all graffitized from the gate/rubbishbin to the cars which are allowed to be painted on more layers each time someone passes by and get inside. I suppose the only time this was not repainted on is during the time the corn field hides this view/scenery. I am sorry I can't express myself well. But for some people who knows where this place is, they will perhaps trample on the corn field nevertheless.
