    What kind of butterfly will come out of this one. I tried to google it but google doesn't have a single reply to my query. Can you give me some more information, please?

    Im not much use to youi all i can tell you is it is in UK and was curled up on my concrete drive yesterday norning

    Unfortunately there are quite a lot of almost identical yellowish green butterfly and moth caterpillars so it becomes virtually impossible to identify them without microscopic examination; or breeding them through to the adult form. Also, just to cause extra difficulties, caterpillars undergo several changes as they grow so the early forms can appear totally different from the last stage.

    We found a very similar caterpillar in one of the bird boxes which we were clearing out this week. That was suspected to be a Copper Underwing Moth but there was no way of being certain.

    Good exposure and a nice bit of detail on its head.

    My old Dad a keen allotment man, would probably have called it a Green Cabbage Looper (after he had disposed of it...)
