Apples blossom are nice...I love the aroma but eating them should be in moderation. I usually just have a few to decorate my dishes as it can cause cyanide poisoning if eaten too much of it.

Thanks Izzie. I didn't realize that people ate the blossom. I don't actally much like the apples from this tree: they're very sweet and juicy but seem to have a bit of a "mashed potato" texture. Not sure what variety, but the flesh is pinkish. Having said that, I think I picked one off the tree last autumn and it was nice and crisp, so maybe they just don't keep well.
In any case, I tend to avoid apples because they give me sensitive teeth. Maybe I'd be O.K. with the flowers...

True, but you would need to consume an awful lot of apple blossom to get enough cyanide to kill you.

    Nice pics!

I was wondering about the lighting and I see in the data that you used a flash! I like your picture. It is beautiful!

Thank you Sandy. It was a very dull, overcast (and rather windy) day. I was experimenting with my 430EX flash hand held off-camera. This was about the only shot I found acceptable. The metadata says the flash was set -3EV, I think. I need to read up more on flash, because I wasn't aware that was what I'd set (I'm pretty sure I'd got the flash set at +/-0 on the unit for this). I had earlier tried the flash wirelessly (cheap transmitter) but couldn't turn it down enough manually, so resorted to ETTL with cord.

Thanks John...I tend to cultivate a few flowers for decorating Bill's plate. I just don't want to poison him by mistake.

Hi Dave ~ Thank you for the explanation. I'm trying to figure out lighting still so every bit of information helps me.
