Louisville, KY Skyline At Dusk - 1992

The Louisville, KY skyline offers some great views from across the Ohio River in Southern Indiana. This photo was taken on Ektachrome using a Mamiya 645 Super; scanned to a TIFF and cleaned up using Affinity.

The river's current is very strange and dangerous at times. The "Falls Of The Ohio" is actually a series of rapids which necessitated construction of the Portland Canal in the 1800's. the "Fleur de Lis" fountain on the right was removed a few years later.

Dennis, Thanks for the picture. I lived there between 1989 and 1998. It is a very nice city. The Humana building (far right) would be fun to go through with a camera.

I'm a native-born Louisvillian. I moved to Michigan in 1982, but I've never lost my love for the city. I was there this past weekend for my mom's 91st birthday, and the city has never lost it's charm.

At the motel we stayed, they have Louisville-themed rooms. In ours they had a large photo of the Humana building's dome. Close up, it has a very deco-like appearance. Of course a lot is dedicated to the Derby.

    Beautiful ....
You may also keep a less squarish one by cropping away some from bottom where there is no reflection, i feel

Thanks for the suggestion! After taking a closer look, it just may work a bit better!

Well, I followed Wavelength's and bje07's advice, and tried a wide crop, "lowering" the sky, and "raising" the river, removing extraneous dead space.

Comments, emotional outbursts, etc., are welcome!

PS - Printed both @ 13"x19", and wife unit still likes the original better. "... in the eye of the beholder."

Well…I guess you are right about different people's view. I kinda like both versions.
