Tattered Curtains
Hello, All!
I've been away from CiC for a while. In late December my wonderful wife, soulmate, and muse, of 51 years, died of cancer. I'm just returning to photography.
This image reminded me of photographs we shot not long after we married. Jenny was doing research for a folklore class concerning a number of abandoned homesteads near the university. I was helping by photographing the buildings, many abandoned with curtains still hanging.
I thought this was a fitting capture to get back into shooting again.
C&C always.

Re: Tattered Curtains
Dean - My deepest sympathy. I was where you are two years ago when my wife died on December 31st 2014.
You will never forget and you'll never 'get over it', but you do start to learn how to live with the loss. But it is a hard, hard road. Photography certainly helped me in my journey, the culmination of which was the month spent in and around Yosemite National Park, on my own, last September.
So, yes, use your photography as part of your pathway to your future. I'm thinking about you.

Re: Tattered Curtains
Dean and Donald...
I can feel your loses. I lost my late wife to cancer in 1990 and was devastated with my emotions frozen. However, luckily, I was able to learn that life has a way of continuing on and if you embrace that life, it can return to happiness. I have been married to my second wife over 20-years now.
I just visited my step daughter from my first wife and we had a wonderful time remembering all the wonderful things about that special lady, her mom. However, I was happy to return home and rejoin my present wife. I have never tried to decide which woman I love more. They are each absolutely wonderful and special in their own ways...
