    Hi Binnur;
I have been experiencing the sane problems and have started to using Flickr to upload through.

Just had a Tinypics upload failure so I changed the Default size setting (in the Tinypics box) to 17 ins monitor size and it then worked fine. My image was 1200 pixels and the 17 ins size is a little over 1000 so not a lot of difference.

Another test (actually about an hour ago) - failed.

Took tens of seconds for the TinyPic interface to appear, then attempting an upload resulted in:

    Error 503 Service Unavailable

I did as you did, although my picture wasn't that big (just 294 x 162).

Although it says Success, it is showing the multicoloured "tinypic" and "this image or video has been moved or deleted"

I'm still of a view that whether it works or not is largely random or lucky timing, rather than anything specific we're doing, but if someone finds the recipe for Success every time, I'll be happy.

I still can't post via TinyPic. Their "live outage" map indicates that the nearest outage to me (Suburban Chicago, IL) in the past 24 hrs is Ottawa, Canada. I also flushed my dns cache, and that didn't help.

I'm not sure where their outage map is, but I can confirm that I cannot post to TinyPic from Ottawa, Canada right now.

At least for me the CiC method worked without incident. I had previously tried TinyPics no less than a dozen times with 3 different files to no avail. This turned into a blessing in disguise as CiC is an easier and more direct upload method. Wish I had tried it earlier.

    Test: 8-Spotted Tiger Beetle (819 x 780 pixels)

Latest TinyPic problems test and discussion thread

I tried up-loading a second copy of the same, above image and it failed.

Update 2017-06-05 - Tried to upload a 1046 x 1000 pixel image. I got a "Success" message and link , but also the "Upload Failed" message. Image was not visible on CIC. I tried a a second time to upload the same image, and just got the "Upload Failed" Message.

Re: Latest TinyPic problems test and discussion thread

FYI: I haven't been able to upload a photo for several weeks (I've tried perhaps 4 or 5 times, including today, during that period. Sometimes tinypics puts up the "Success" message, but that means nothing as even so-called successful uploads are fails. I use the method that Dave described in his May 28th post, the same way I have been posting since I first joined CiC. I'm located in the U.S.A. (although ironically some of my fellow citizens in the lower 48 states think I'm "out of the country" by living here - but I digress).

    See the first picture below

Click on that share arrow. That will bring up a dialogue box:-

Latest TinyPic problems test and discussion thread

Choose the size at which you want to embed the image. I always select 1024 on the longest side.

Click into the URL box and the URL will highlight. Right click on that URL and 'Copy'.

Now, go into CiC and open up the dialogue box (either replying in an existing thread or creating a new thread.

I have found that it works fine just copying and pasting the BBCode link straight into the CIC message. You may have to edit the post a bit to remove text that comes over from flickr that you don't want/need (such as your name and the image title).

I just now replaced six of my images temporarily linked to my website with image files successfully uploaded using TinyPic. I also uploaded a brand new image using TinyPic.

Test: Ulidiidae sp. Picture-Winged Fly (1046 x 1000 pixels). Successful on the first attempt. Hopefully the TinyPic problem has been resolved.

Re: Latest TinyPic problems test and discussion thread

It happened again to me last night, Binnur, so I instead posted an image using a link to the private area of my website not visible to anyone other than me. Later in the evening I was able to replace that method with a file uploaded through TinyPic.

I'm now resigned to the expectation that TinyPic is going to go down occasionally, at which point I will temporarily use a link to my website.

Which raises a question in my mind: for those of us who do have a website, is there any advantage to using TinyPic instead of a link from our sites? I have almost always done the latter, and it's extremely simple from Smugmug: when one asks for a link, it gives you a choice of sizes. I generally pick about 1000 pixels across unless the image isn't that big (e.g., a screen shot of a histogram). I past the link, and this site automatically does any needed further resizing. It's very quick, and it never fails.

Am I loosing something by doing this?

Three reasons for me: I occasionally remove images from the public area of my website, so I wouldn't want to provide a link to them knowing the image removed from that area of my website will also disappear from the CiC thread. I don't want to have to maintain a private area of my images at my website solely for the purpose of displaying them at CiC. When TinyPic is working, which is most of the time, it's far faster to use it to display an image at CiC. That's because, unlike the two-step process of uploading the image to my website and then providing a link to it, TinyPic provides a one-step process of simply uploading the image to CiC.

EDIT: A fourth reason is that though I maintain a website, many of my images posted here at CiC such as travel photos are never posted to my website.
