Hi Les, you seem to be on a roll yourself.. A very nice set and I'm envious, I was trying to get the same hook-tip moth you did... unsuccessfully. It is, (I think), a Blood-vein, Timandra comae.
I think the second is an Ensign Fly, and the 3rd is a Scorpion fly (male), Panorpa sp.
The last two are hoverflies, Scaeva pyrastri with the white comma shaped patches, and the second looks like a Syrphus.
No doubt someone more experienced in identification will correct my mistakes
As regards the black digger wasp, mine was much larger than an ant, about 8-9mm.

The last hoverfly is a Eupeodes. E. luniger by the look of it.
I can't quite see the markings on your Scorpion Fly's tail but the wing markings look right for Panorpa communis; that is the one which I am finding now.

Many thanks Geoff and James it was busy today groups of students taking samples of water from the pond and river , wading in the river with nets catching whatever they could , seemed to push all the insects away from the riverbank right to me and i was given strict instructions NOT to take pictures of the students .I actually thought that moth was a leaf it is so well camaflauged . Did you notice the last but one has some of its wing missing ?

The first three shots are nice but #3 is a winner - good composition, lighting and you managed to get the eye, the wing AND one of the antennae in sharp focus. Good focus on #1 and #2 too. I think #4 is a bit soft and #5 is way oversharpened.
