    Back-lit past prime banana leaf.

I was wandering the garden when this banana leaf caught my eyes. F/18 for depth and a bit of softness. A little finessing with the tripod and there you go.

    Back-lit past prime banana leaf.

Around here it's not eaten but used for coking in two ways. One is as a roasting pan. Wrap your food and use it to keep the juices in as you bake it in the ground. The other is as a wrapper for sticky rice.

In Thailand, I ate a very light, white fish that was cooked while wrapped in banana leaves over a scorching fire. The fish was perfectly cooked, not the least bit dry, as I expected it to be when noticing the heat of the fire. The heat would have been far too intense had it not been for the banana leaves.
