Here are very interesting rock formations, Jim, yet the eye immediately goes to the brightest part of the image which are the two white (rocks, snow or whatever?). Some way you have to drastically take away from their impact. Cropping? Burning? Cloning? - nothing occurs to me primarily right now, but needs to be tackled for a good image.

The ice was an interesting feature, but I kinda knew it would compete with the main focus. What about this?

It kind of loses it's sense of place, but!!!!

I love your subject, Jim, but it seems to me that you could have made a stronger composition based either on the colour patterns or the lines of the rock.

I like the original shot but you need to tone down the white rocks at the front of it. If you have Nik software, Viveza will be able to do this for you.

The white rocks is snow. Since the first and second are both crops, maybe I'll start over again from scratch and see what I can do to make a stronger composition and ease up on the snow without it turning a dull grey. May have to resort to cloning them out.

Here's the original process uncropped. Any suggestions?

hmm if the rock patterns are the thing then cut off the top 1/3 and bottom 1/3 and go panoramic with the middle of the rocks only
