Interesting development, as long as choices are given (especially for suggested crops) I can see the need for some.

Interesting, and thanks for posting. So far as I can find out, the Google panoramas are around 65mp, so that kind of crop for web viewing wouldn't be a problem.

The more I see of Google introducing any new editing possibilities, the more that I worry about Google totally abandoning NIK.

They already officially announced that it is totally abandoned other than that they still continue to provide it for free, as explained in the banner at the top of their website.

If I am not mistaken. I think we are talking about apples and oranges. The link in the OP does not reference potential new editing software from Google, something like NIK. It is a machine-learning trial:

In our system, we break down aesthetics into multiple aspects, each can be learned individually from a shared dataset of professional examples.
In other words, it's a program that allows a computer learns and then can to some degree emulate what professionals in the training database value in images. There is a link in the post to an article from a Cornell lab that explains what they did.

Looks like Nik is done for. I think we will hear more about this Google thing as they find more and more applications for 'whatever' they are working on.

    Google will not stop there.

Interesting but how does one uses it for us in the future? I kinda like fiddling on my post processing sometimes. I believe I willl not be able to own a robot who will process my images so I am asking...
