    Morning macro

Thought I would try again this morning but without the 20mm extension tube, so just the 85mm macro lens and the R1C1 macro flash kit.
This moth was vibrating furiously which is something they do I think.

I also came across this colorful guy. Not a clue what it is. Too bad I didn't get a good focus on it.

    Morning macro
    One of these perhaps?

    Morning macro

Don't know what it is either. They move slow and stink if one touches them.

    Re: Morning macro

That is some form of shieldbug. A few species can emit a strong odour as a means of defence so they are also known as Stinkbugs.

The focus is fine, Dave. All you can do from those angles is to get the nearest points, particularly the head, in good focus and let everything else blur into an artistic type of scene.

Some moths will vibrate to warm themselves up before taking flight.

I like these ones Dave - ditching the tubes seems to have helped.

Dave, excellent captures of the moth. I also like the shieldbug.

Excellent captures, Dave. Note the enlarged, "raptorial" hind legs on your second specimen. It might be a Helmeted Squash Bug (Euthochtha galeator). See second image here:

    Re: Morning macro

The focus on the first batch is excellent. I think your macro kit is the same one I saw one of my doctors used on me for the before and after grab shot of my operation.

The second one is called a stink bug here. My kids (doggies) bring them home from time to time from the outside. I never get to photography any because Bill will always grab a napkin and flush it down the toilet (every time!)
