    Taking in the scenery

I had to sit in the car for an hour to let a storm pass over before walking up the moor to capture an image or two of "The Seated Figure" a piece of sculpture by Sean Henry, for some more detail this link takes you to the artists site LINK

As always your thoughts and comments are welcome.

    #1 the original posted image.

    Taking in the scenery

#2 modified image to add a little more head room as suggested in the responses (#7 & #8) to the original.

#3 Another image showing a different view, taken prior to the #1,this one. I've titled it "The Storm Beyond"

Nice shot from a great viewpoint. Didn't know this existed Peter. Where exactly is it?

John, it is on the North Yorkshire Moors. It was placed in June this year, I'm not sure how long it will be at this spot they may move it around. The artwork is on Brown Hill overlooking Westerdale. Blakey Rigg is below and behind me at this camera position. PM me if you require a NGR.

I can still see it Izzie. But I can also see two copies of your response to this thread!
I couldn't upload an image using Tinypics to here yesterday. However my image on this thread is hosted on Flickr not Tinypics.

Just a fraction tight at the top for my tastes. Just a tiny bit extra would make a lot of difference and if necessary I would be willing to lose it from the bottom.

Otherwise a good composition and nice exposure.

Nicely composed. Maybe just a fraction tight on top. Odd spot for display of a sculpture.

Thanks Geoff I've now given him a little bit more headroom.

Thanks for taking time to look and comment Dan. I have no idea why the National Park authorities chose the position for the sculpture. But I have to say he has a wonderful vista to look at.

Here is a quick and dirty panorama edit for you to appreciate the "odd" spot to display it, this is the view from the statue.

I really like the third photo because of the sky and being able to view the statue from the front. It also bears a strong similarity with a good friend who died about 1 1/2 years ago.

Thanks for taking time to look and comment Mike. I had intended to create a black and white image from the third one, mainly because of the sky that you make reference to.

    Re: Taking in the scenery

That little bit of extra headroom has made so much difference to the image.

The dark sky scene doesn't show so much of the general landscape but I like it. It has a really moody effect.

    Re: Taking in the scenery

Now I am back and saw the three images -- well, supposed to be two. The edit looks good with the extra head room. I can understand why whoever was commissioned to make this statue here, this was put here on this spot. It is a very nice view. You can really sit down here, like him...and see forever.

Thank you, Peter for sharing. I do not see a double posting on mine. I am always warned if I do click the button twice and had already uploaded once.

    Cheers...

Great work Peter, I love the way the colours of him blend so well with the scenery.

    Re: Taking in the scenery

Thanks Izzie, Geoff and Grahame for looking and commenting. The statue seems to be attracting some attention locally. I've noticed a number of images of it on a number of photography forums and of course social media.
I may return and reshoot once the heather is in full bloom around the artwork.
