    No butterflies

I passed the time waiting fruitlessly for the return of the small white by taking what was on offer.

First one is a close up of a common house fly at rest on a bay leaf. I know that the D0F is very shallow - it was not intended to have a sharp top to bottom of the head. Know about the moire too

    No butterflies

Second is a hoverfly nosing at small jasmine flower.

    No butterflies

The last is a geranium flower peeking out from underneath a hebe bush.

Not too bad for killing time

The fly's eyes are fascinating. Well done.

You have the important bits of the fly's head sharply focused so it doesn't matter if the more distant areas are fading into softness.

The hoverfly is Meliscaeva auricollis. Good to get an in flight shot.

Good series, Bill. I am particularly fascinated by the jasmine shot one. I kinda like the processing of that -- ultra sharp but beautifully done. Just right. The hoverfly is the bonus. Nice processing on him (her?) too.
