    Solar Eclipse

Sorry to disappoint anyone who thought this may be an Astro image. This is a sunflower variety called "Solar Eclipse.

Great image. I can see how it got the name it has.

I agree Rita thanks for commenting. There's a noticeable variation in colour across the plants which were grown from seed, some have the colouration that is seen in this image but others don't.

That's good because of what's not there - no halos at the edges of the leaves. And the colour has been wonderfully brought out in the image.

The word "vibrant comes to mind immediately. It would be easy to overdo the saturation but this is just right.

    Re: Solar Eclipse

I have some "voluntary" sunflowers in my backyard at the moment that doesn't do the original one justice. The original ones were planted from nursery bought seeds. There were beautiful and lasted longer. I think it has to do with the drying of the seeds? I don't know...this one you have here looks different from what I grow here. And yes, I thought I will be seeing a topic on the solar eclipse too. Fooled me. But it was well worth it.
