Helpful Posts: Here I used Select > Focus Area (mask option) to set a background blur, selective sharpening, and background desaturation. I also added dark vignetting with highlights after cropping using Camera RAW Effects. Just having fun....

Nice work, Ed. Personally, I would try blurring the background even more, and the leaf coming out from the left edge of the frame in particular. I would also lower the highlights in the background. Those at the upper right are somewhat distracting.

I agree with Janis. Once you have control (layer mask) it pays to be absolutely ruthless. But don't get caught....
