A bit of esoterica. The blue below the pink is the shadow of the Earth projected onto the sky before sunrise; the pink is a sunrise for someone south of me (The shot is looking due north)
This is my latest obsession. Going out two hours before sunrise (which is 9:30 am for me currently) and shooting using the ambient light up until sunrise . The exposures range a bit depending on the conditions. I have lots of time and just adjust the histogram to be just a bit shy of to the right.
Quite like the soft diffuse light. And it works quite brilliantly with the snow, enough to give texture without the harsh shadow and higlights cast once the sun is over the horizon.
