Turtles like our fishponds

Both our fishponds have wild fresh water forest turtles cohabiting with the other beasties. This turtle is very young and less than half size. Bright light and dark shadows made for an interesting challenge. She stayed on the surface for less than a minute.

All it took was the right climate and about 20 years of fussing to create multiple micro habitats. We have about 2000 sq. meters and habitats that include natural bamboo wilderness, a large compost area, two ponds, a lawn, lots of fruit trees, bananas a vegetable patch and even a good old fashioned lawn. And of course the stone walls for the creepy crawlers.

Right now my major problem is convincing the two ladies we have coming in for house cleaning and gardening not to make the garden to clean.
