Wow, Greg, I think you are onto something!
Showing the image in its natural context does change things a bit, I can see why you cropped.
I think this is a really cool, unique and fascinating image. Both versions work. The crop helps.
The crop and color make all the difference in the world. Now there's a story there.

Muted colors are not intentional. I copied the image using "Clip It" and opened it in Photoshop. I did nothing except crop the image...
Not a problem, Richard. I was just interested. I use two monitors here - one for Affinity Photo, which is great but am still learning (and occasionally Photoshop). Only use Lightroom on one monitor, though maybe I should experiment with that one too. My two monitors show colours differently - I must calibrate them both soon. Only usually do so on the main one, which I mostly view the images on.
Looks like a Giantess looking down on us mortals, picking one out to eat. But that could just be my imagination.
I really like the first image.
