Mobile home
This was on the lid of our organic waste bin this morning. I set up the gear on a tripod to fire off a set for focus stacking but discovered that "snail's pace" doesn't mean static and had to give up on that.
It's the first snail shot in my macro catalogue, hope it's not too lonely for too long .
C&C welcome.

Re: Mobile home
Snails can be surprisingly difficult to photograph. Besides subject movement, exposure on that damp slimy reflective surface often causes problems.
I often shoot for focus stacking because even if there is subject movement you can often do a bit of select, copy and paste to take a sharp focus area from one image then manually insert it into another image. All done with layers.

Re: Mobile home
Is that a common variety of snail in your part of the world, Bill?

Re: Mobile home
Good catch! I am surprised about how beat up this little one's house looks?
You have plenty of detail to see! Well done!

Re: Mobile home
Very nice..it is funny to think that someone can travel anywhere with their home on back? no need of movers and packers...

Re: Mobile home
I didn't expect this kind a shot Bill . Very nice !!
But nitpicking as I am , I think it would be nicer iff the tip off 'the home' was in sharper focus ..:

John, Geoff, Greg, Sandy, Nanda, and Rudi
Thanks for commenting.
Geoff: That's a good idea and not one I had seen mentioned anywhere before. Will certainly give it a try.
Greg: I think it is a Garden Snail; there aren't many in my garden but they all have the same type of shell.
Rudi: I completely agree with the focus comment, (which I don't find to be nitpicking in the least).

Re: Mobile home
My guess would be for that being a White-lipped Snail - Cepaea hortensis.
