M'Lady says it's horrifying. I was shooting in neutral with contrast set to 2 out of 3. ISO 100 ~ Shutter Speed 4 seconds ~ F/16. Macro to follow

Just in case you are curious the background is Giant Butong bamboo

Nice shot Brian - the approach and framing work very well here. If I might suggest a tiny bit of a crop along the top to get rid of a bit of the top of the wall(?), which is a minor distracting element, I think the image would work even better.

I assume that the neutral setting and contrast setting are camera settings? If so, they will not make any difference if you are working with raw data, these settings only impact JPEG output.

I had used a tighter crop but like yours it snipped off a bit of the top right leg.

Usually when something can't be used in raw it is not highlighted. This setting is definitely highlighted but I shall do a little research.

Do these spiders camouflage themselves in some way? He looks like he's buried himself a bit into the bamboo? Poisonous?
Love the shot! And as old as I am, I am a H.P. fan....

Agreed. There is a trade-off there and I find the tiny bit of missing (camouflaged) leg less of an issue that the little gap along the top. If I were truly concerned, I would rebuild the top by cloning and remove both the break and keep the bit of leg.
