    Tas Rally

Tas Rally held their first special night stage here in Launceston last Friday night, bitterly cold and windy but worth enduring the elements to see some great drivers.
I have never shot moving cars under lights so this was a real learning curve for me. I tried high iso, too grainy, flash with low iso but that made the cars look like they were just parked on the road.
This was what I thought was my best of the night it showed speed and movement which I thought important.
1/10th sec panned, iso 250 F/4 and rear sync flash
    C&C welcome plus any tips.
    Cheers, Greg

    Good shot. Left-hand drive?

The bright back light streak draws my eye a bit ...

    What was the speed? 0.00?
For a 1/10s panning you've a rather sharp foreground and very little movement in the tyres.

Hmmm ... "and rear sync flash" might be a clue ...

I was so obsessed by that strange look of the picture that I didn't read the flash statement. Is that allowed?
A strange look for 1) the contradictory look of the moving back lights and the sharp letters b)the sharp crush-barrier and the blurred back-ground.
I do understand now why they appear as they do.

    Thanks for all the replies.
Right hand drive Ted, just looks like the navigator has a wheel in front of him.
To be honest George I had to use spin blur in pp to get some sense of movement in the wheels. Flash, no matter how I tried it just seemed to freeze everything. There was a huge light stand opposite side of the track so the left hand side of the car was in shadow.
Has anyone else shot something similar, I would be interested on how they went about it.
