Cactus Emerging from the Shadow

As the sun moved overhead and starting lighting up the dark side of this cactus I noticed how the light gave definition to the spiney nodules which in turn cast their own shadows. C&C welcome.

Nice image--an interesting concept, and very nice lighting. My one suggestion is to crop from the left, perhaps enough so that the blank space makes up only about 1/3 of the image along the top edge. As it is now, the huge amount of black makes the image unbalanced and draws my eye away from the subject.
