Hummer at the Mandevilla
On our back deck this morning. The little darters shy at the noise of the 70D's shutter at the high-speed-burst setting of 7FPS, so I use the "silent" mode, which is only about 3.5FPS but gives me more chances for a sharp shot before they move on their own volition:

A good shot -- and congratulations on having your camera at hand when the bird appeared!

Thanks. Seems that every time I leave a camera behind, an opportunity for hummers is missed. So this morning I was up and on the deck with coffee, newspaper, and camera to take advantage of the mild temperatures.

Good shot, I like the overall composition with the hummer positioned against the hard geometric shapes in the background and poised to enter the softer natural shape of the flower.
