Just pretend that you're on a Rabbies Bus Tour

Just for clarity the tour company mentioned in the title can usually be seen out and about across Scotland. I have no affiliation with them whatsoever.

However I have been to some of the places that they visit whilst they are shepherding their flocks though Scotland. You can if you are patient manage to make an image or two at any of the popular places which they visit, without having to resort to cloning out the hordes of visitors from your images. All of the tour buses are on a tight schedule so their flock don't linger too long.

These images were all made on the same day, so you will see how changeable the weather conditions can be on the Isle of Skye. To my mind the images adequately show why Skye is sometimes referred to as the Misty Isle.

As always your thoughts, comments and suggestions are welcome. I hope you enjoy your little circular tour around the North of the Isle of Skye.

#1 A cottage at Cuidrach, with wonderful views across Loch Snizort.

#2 Uig from the South, with the Ferry Terminal at centre, taken from the side of the A87 road.

#3 Skye Museum of Island Life, this little tour took place on a Sunday therefore the museum was closed.

#4 Kilmuir Graveyard, with the monument to Flora MacDonald at the right. That is Flora the heroine famous for assisting Charles Edward Stuart evade the government troops who were searching for him, following Jacobite defeat at the Battle of Culloden in April 1746.

#5 In a nearby extension to the graveyard in #4 above, you could hardly miss this monument. The fashion concious amongst the forum members may probably, not require any explanation as to who this monument commemorates.

#6 Remains of Duntulm Castle with Tulm Island beyond.

#7 Looking toward the Quiraing the four people nearest the camera could possibly be part of a Rabbies flock but the single figure in blue on the path along the Quiraing probably isn't with them..

#8 Brides Veil Falls with the Old Man of Storr in the background, I chose to leave the vapour trail in the image.

#9 Finally the tour is complete with a stitched panorama of Uig from the North from alongside the A855 road. For anyone who wishes to see some more detail there is a larger version of this image on my Flickr photostream.

Brian, thanks for taking time to look and comments, you are correct, the figure is hard to spot. Probably due to the mist and he/she is a small figure in a large landscape.

Very nice set Peter, with some that stand out in their own right. For me, #7 is superb on its own, but it also screams "Skye" - scenery, weather, tourists, the lot.

I had a wee smile (big grin actually) at #4. It too screams Skye, but only for the weather! I've been to that site twice and it was just like that both times; yes, the weather is changeable but somehow it always changes for the worse when I get close to the graveyard.

I'd be a wee bit picky on #1 - it's nice and colourful but doesn't really deliver on "wonderful views across Loch Snizort" (and the milky water brigade won't like the sea).

An outstanding tour. Superb compositions with perfect processing and informative and lively narrative.

Thanks for the feedback Bill, I appreciate it. Regarding the first image my apologies for my badly worded text that is associated with the image.
What I was trying to say was that from the cottage there are wonderful views across the Loch. Not that my image was showing that wonderful view across the Loch IYSWIM.
The Exif for the image was ISO100, f19, 1/45 sec there was no intent to create any milky water.
During that one day (even during short parts of it) we went from brilliant blue sky and full sun, to what I would describe as overcast. Luckily there was a bit of a breeze so we weren't bothered by the dreaded midges.

    Just getting to this thread.

    Fine set of images.

The incongruity of McQueen's headstone is unfortunate. That's what you get from the fashion luvvies, I suppose, craving attention. But that has nothing to do with you very good images.
