Composed very nicely, the foreground greenery is a bit much but I take it you wanted to include the rock formations which do serve to break up the bland water near the foreground. The sky is mostly blown out and not much detail yet some clouds are visible which could've helped pull the viewers around the composition, as shown my eyes want to quickly scan past the skies. After you get other comments would be interested in knowing what settings you used, if you've ever worked with filters, and what post processing steps/programs you used to prepare this image.

I do like the composition but as John alluded to, it need some post processing to bring out details in the sky. That is easily done and will improve the picture greatly.

I played with this using NIK and there is a lot of detail that can be brought out...

I agree that there is a lot of detail in the file that could be brought out.

The composition is fine, but that is just the first part of creating an good image. The histogram shows that there is a pile up at the right hand side. As others have pointed out, that is the sky. Don't know if you'd be able to recover that in processing.

This shows that you can see an image, which is the first, basic requirement. Not everyone has that skill.

For me the taller vegetation on the right side is distracting.

You should be pleased it's a good shot with lots of potential. It is also a very different shot in Lytebox.

It is probably just my tired eyes but on the far shore there is a white area that could be a boat, a beach or a structure. I find my eyes constantly drawn to it. Would you consider darkening it a bit or perhaps cloning it out?

I disagree. For me, these grasses are part of the waterside vegetation and deserve inclusion. Perhaps this is because I see myself as a naturalist first and a photographer second!

Looks like a beach to my tired old eyes. I would keep it in for the same reason as I mentioned above.

What a lovely scene. I like the composition and as others have pointed out some additional processing could really enhance the image, particularly the sky.

Re: Llyn Padarn in beautiful north Wales

Thank you all for the comments. The vegetation in the foreground seems to have divided opinion, but I like it. I can see the point about the sky, so I have made some adjustments to the processing. Is this better?

Thank you. I have adjusted the sky using Lightroom. No filters were used on this shot apart from a polariser. Is the second version better?

I agree with Brian. That is a much more pleasing image than the first version. Well done.

    Re: Another offering

I really like the image, but as said there's more detail in the sky that could be brought out.

Here's another suggestion, in Lightroom. Masked out the sky and pulled down the highlights to bring out more detail.

Desaturated the clouds top right which looked unnaturally blue to me.

Played a little with the mountains to reduce haze, and again desaturate (unfortunately, Lightroom doesn't currently have colour selective colour manipulation within masks).

There's also some crud/noise in the sky, which I hope is just from working with a small jpeg!

Thank you Dave. I will look again when I am back at my laptop. I have not had much serious practice with Lightroom, and it’s a steep learning curve at the moment!
