Thread: My favourite walk-around camera

    My favourite walk-around camera

Is the odd one in my collection: 95% of my gear is Canon, but this Nikon Df has captured my heart as a walk-around camera. I am still coming to grips with the different things about this camera: the rotation of the lens is opposite to the Canon, different control locations, but I am encouraged for what it can do as an all-in-one unit. I have the equivalent in the Canon EOS 5DMkIII, with the Canon 28-300L lens, but it weighs about twice as much and is much more bulky.

I went on an evening photo shoot to capture textures, patterns, tones and shadows in the city. We weren't helped when the sun promptly went behind a cloud for most of the duration!

All images are taken hand-held, using the Nikkor 28-300 3.5-5.6 ED lens.

Interesting set, Trevor. I like the 3rd shot. It says something about our digital age. The 5th one - Dim Alley - might look more like a dim alley if you pulled the lighting down a bit. JMHO.

    Hi Greg
    Thank you for your comments!
The image #5 actually started off much darker but without detail and I wanted to get the effect of the lights and the rather dingy area without losing a lot to shadow. It looks a bit darker as a print I might add.

Me too. Pity about the aircon unit though but under your control. Nice creative set of images..

Nice set, Trev. With your stated goal I'd say you did well.
