I like this latest shot too, but I would be tempted to crop the top 1/4 or s (just below the area of blue sky along the top of the image). That would balance out the land and sky a bit more, I suspect.

I always struggle with the crop. Do I want it balanced? Do I want to emphasize one thing over another? I think your suggestion would be a nice image, too. I wanted the emphasis on the wide open sky--perhaps because that space is something that resonates with me whenever we take to the road. Thanks for commenting!

I tend to look for balance in the image. I find that with this crop, the clouds act as a visual barrier by eliminating that distracting blue area, which in my view, strengthens the image.

In that case you might want to pretend that you are Donald and crop the left side until you have a square image.

    Judith,

When you saw this leaf did other imagery form in your mind? Nicely captured.

Not sure what you are asking. The day was cold and yet I knew the sun would soon warm things enough to melt the frost. There was the isolation of this particular leaf on the river bank. Tell me more of what you are thinking.

    Hi Judith,

Just meaning the leaf and surroundings has an abstract quality, if you look at the image long enough other objects could be imagined.

I do gravitate toward minimalist/abstraction, but rarely with hidden objects or meaning. Just me.

Wk 48 - I like the image overall, but I would have liked to see just a little more of what is missing from the left side of the frame so that the inner circle of the concentric circles was complete for part (say half) of its width.

I might also experiment with increasing the saturation of the colours a little.

I have not deduced, either from the title or looking at the image, what the you have taken a photogragh of, so the title is bemusing. Would it spoil the fun to tell us what it is?
