    Black & Yellow Longhorn (Rutpela maculata)

    My guess for the hoverfly would be male Syrphus sp.

    Two nice captures Geoff. Perhaps a bit more DOF wouldn't have gone amiss but we all know the difficulties involved there. For about the third year, the garden hasn't seen the sort of insect population that we used to get so I guess I am going to have to go further afield.
