Finally you raised your camera to higher angle...
nice bird images, especially the second; adding a strip of sky above the birds higher wing would be desirable...

Sorry Les, neither of these are working particularly well for me. The bird does not appear to be sharp in the first image and really does not stand out from the background. In the second one, we have a sharpness issue as well and the wing tip almost touching the edge is definitely adding an unwanted distraction in the shot.
