I'd like to see an image from the side rather than top...when you take images from top it makes everything look smaller...yes...bugs are tiny 😁. Try get to eye level always. You'll see everything suddenly pop.
Still a great image as it's something I've never seen. The view of second image would be been perfect for the first

That is one of the Digger Wasps, Les. They place other insects into their nesting burrows as food for their developing larvae.
It looks like a Field Digger Wasp - Mellinus arvensis but if that is a current image it is a bit early for them.
