    Abstract Building frontage

This image is from a trip to New Zealand in 2017, which shows part of a building frontage. I have absolutely no idea what the function of the metalwork is, or if in fact it has any function other than in the mind of the designer.
However if anyone has any knowledge of the purpose of the metalwork I would appreciate knowing what the purpose is.

Wonderful image Peter, and as a NZer maybe I should be able to offer assistance...
Sadly I am from the Deep South (next step Antarctica) so I cannot claim any local knowledge.

Google came up with this article, if the link works for you.

The mirrors on the North Facade are a sunscreen and reference the native NZ Pohutukawa tree.

Well seen & photographed as now knowing more about the subject, I’d imagine it would be tricky, you have done it justice here.

Thanks for the link Kay, I should have recognised the metalwork as the NZ Christmas Tree. The image I posted is a cropped version from a landscape orientation image to lose a tree that was on the right side and one of the orange coloured window openings that can be seen in the pictures of the building in your link.

With reference to the Deep South of NZ on our 2017 trip we did “Cape Reinga to Bluff” could that have been considered as Deep South?

    Thanks again Abstract Building frontage
