Long Island Locks - Rideau Canal

We did a short excursion this afternoon the Manotick part of Ottawa. While I have lived in Ottawa for many years, this was my first visit to these lovely locks.

The lock remains in operation for a few more days and shuts for the season on Monday, when the water level of the river system is lowered and the locks are drained.

While there were a few nice looking trees with autumn colours, the peak is still a few weeks away.

Are you going to go back to this locale? I see a lot of potential as the leaves turn. Even the minimal change to this point is interesting.

Maybe take a chain saw and knock down the dead tree to the left of the lock. I am sure the authorities would appreciate your civic mindedness.

There are three sets of locks at this location. I stood at the end of the highest lock to get this shot.
