The Canon 7S Mark ii which I used prior to switching to Sony mirrorless had a very fast and accurate AF system which was only surpassed in the Canon lineup by the later 1D models.
I have not noticed any slower AF with my Sony A6600 (I am choosing this camera as an example because it is a crop sensor like the 7Dii) and in many ways the auto focus of the A6600 is better than the 7Dii.
I have seen claims that the A6600 has the speediest autofocus however, I have also seen such claims regarding some Canon cameras...
