    Waiting for God.

    Guildford Cathedral, Surrey, UK.

The outside worship area is contained within a large marquee.

Very interesting photograph. Is this some kind of "mega" church? Looks like such a stark setting compared to normal cathedrals.

Guildford Cathedral is a modern building and is none too picturesque to my mind. It was started in 1936 and not completed until 1961.

One of it's claims to fame is it featured in the 1976 film "The Omen". Quite extraordinary really considering the subject matter of the film.

Covid restrictions mean that they have had to add this outdoor worship area in addition to the seating in the Cathedral itself. I thought it made a good image due to repetition of pattern in the chairs. It was a bit of a challenge to photograph as I was not allowed inside the large tent. I had to capture the image through a thick plastic screen.

All the while keeping a lookout in case I was interrupted by a small boy and a black dog ! (If you have not seen "The Omen", ignore this)

IMO, enclosing an outdoor space might negate the anti-Covid advantages of being outdoors.

Haven't been to Guildford, Sharon, but it's just an "ordinary" cathedral as far as I know. Looking at the spacing of the chairs, it could be some kind of COVID measure ...

    [edit]duh, shoulda read Peter's post first[/edit]

I would tend to agree with you there, but please forward any ideas to the Pope
